Gravure printing technology and its application in anti-counterfeiting packaging

I. characteristics of gravure printing

II. Types of gravure printing

1. Engraving intaglio

According to the control method of the cutter, it can be divided into manual engraving intaglio, mechanical engraving intaglio and electronic engraving intaglio

(1) manual engraving intaglio

manual engraving intaglio is made by technicians using a cutter to manually engrave on the surface of the printing plate cylinder according to the original text. The printing plate material can be copper plate or steel plate. Manual labor is heavy, plate making costs are large, and the cycle is long. However, the intaglio lines carved by hand are clear, and the printed matter has a strong sense of hierarchy, which is difficult to forge. Most of them are used for making intaglio printing of securities and high-quality artworks

(2) mechanical engraving intaglio

mechanical engraving intaglio is made by engraving on the surface of the printing plate cylinder with a mechanical control cutter. It reduces the heavy labor of manual engraving, with fast plate making speed, short cycle and low plate making cost. It is mainly used for making intaglio printing of securities

due to the high cost of engraving and plate making and the long plate making cycle, the scope of use is limited. However, everything is divided into two. As far as anti-counterfeiting packaging is concerned, hand engraving intaglio may be the best way to make plates. Because secret anti-counterfeiting is a main method of anti-counterfeiting packaging, technicians can use various methods to carve some secret marks in the process of manual engraving intaglio. These secret marks on the manual engraving intaglio are not easy to be found, and it is more difficult to distinguish on the printed matter, which forms secret anti-counterfeiting

(3) electronic engraving intaglio plate

this type of plate is engraved on the surface of the printing plate cylinder by the engraver controlled by the electronic control device. Using the electronic carving machine, according to the photoelectric principle, the carving knife is controlled to carve holes on the surface of the cylinder, and its area and depth change at the same time

2. Etch gravure

etch gravure is made by etching ink pits on the surface of the plate cylinder by chemical etching according to the original text. According to the different methods of original text conversion, etched intaglio can be divided into etched intaglio, photographic intaglio and dot intaglio

etched intaglio is made by combining engraving and etching. That is to say, the shape of the original picture and text is carved by hand, and then the gravure plate is made by means of corrosion

III. The Application of gravure printing technology in anti-counterfeiting packaging
